Dr Michael Herd

Michael Herd is a Psychologist with the team at All About Kids. He is a registered Psychologist and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has been working with children and families as a Teacher, Guidance Counsellor and Psychologist for more than 30 years. Michael has a particular interest in supporting families with parenting, difficult behaviour and children on the autistic spectrum. He also has a great deal of experience with childhood anxiety disorders (including OCD and phobias), depression and anger issues, and is proficient in psychometric, academic and behavioural assessments. His therapeutic approach is based upon Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy but he also uses other approaches such as Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, depending upon the individual needs of the client. Michael is a registered Trainer with Triple P International and has trained practitioners in Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has recently completed a PhD at the University of Queensland examining the effectiveness of preterm parenting intervention on later child behaviour.
