Dr Christina Clarke

Christina is a UK trained Clinical Psychologist with over 17 years’ experience working with children, young people and families. She has extensive experience working with a broad range of difficulties common to childhood and young adulthood, with particular interests in childhood behaviour difficulties, parenting skills, relationship difficulties, family conflict, life transitions/adjustments, low mood/depression, anxiety based difficulties (such as OCD, Phobia, and PTSD), anger/aggression and bereavement. For families with children under 5, Christina is able to offer support in the following areas: attachment/bonding, establishing routines (sleeping, eating, behaviour), sibling jealousy, parental post-natal depression, and families with newly diagnosed hearing loss/deafness. Additionally, Christina provides therapeutic services to children, young people and families who are deaf/hard of hearing. This includes Children of Deaf Adults (CODA), Cochlear implant users and Auslan users. Christina knows British Sign Language and is familiar with Deaf culture. She is currently learning Auslan and works with families of all d/Deaf backgrounds, whether the presenting difficulty is related to a hearing loss or not. Christina utilises face-to-face Auslan interpreters in her work with signing families. Christina has trained in a variety of therapeutic models which include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Family Therapy models (including solution-focused, narrative, and strength-based approaches). Such diversity in therapeutic training enables therapy sessions to remain flexible and individually tailored to the needs and goals of clients. Focusing on the here and now as well as the past to better understand difficulties and provide the most appropriate intervention.
