Chris works with individuals or couples around issues such as stress, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions and other issues which impact on mental health and well-being. She has many years of experience working in the area of Women’s and Sexual Health and is accredited with Medicare to provide supportive Pregnancy Counselling. Chris has an interest in women’s sexual health issues including: • decision making re unintended pregnancy • grief and loss associated with pregnancy and childbirth eg miscarriage/termination • sexual assault, abuse, violence • sexual identity and behaviour • fertility issues • impact of sexually transmitted infections • sexual health and negotiating safety in relationships Chris is also interested in the effect of trauma in a person’s life and how it can challenge their sense of safety and security in the world. Trauma impacts on the capacity to maintain meaningful relationships and undermines the ability to function in daily life. Counselling can provide the safe environment to begin to build trust and a sense of security in order to establish more meaningful interpersonal relationships and develop a wider social network of support. She offers an individualised approach that integrates traditional “talking therapies” (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT),Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Non Violent Communication (NVC) with experiential and awareness oriented modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness and Focusing, and also creative therapies, such as Sandplay.
