Alysha Coleman (nee Casey)

Alysha is the founder and principal Clinical Psychologist at the Institute for Healthy Living. She combines her clinical knowledge with a warm and relatable manner to make therapy effective and meaningful. Since anyone get stuck struggling with painful aspects of being a human, Alysha focuses her energy on finding the most workable way to help each person get “unstuck”. Her authentic and compassionate approach allows her to work successfully with children, adolescents, and adults. Alysha supports clients experiencing a wide range of issues, with particular expertise in addressing: - binge eating and over-eating - body image concerns - weight management - depression and mood disorders - anxiety disorders - emotional sensitivity and intolerance - self-esteem issues - complex trauma - stress management - relationship difficulties - unrelenting standards and perfectionism - antenatal, postnatal and fertility difficulties Alysha has specialised training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapies. Her predominant treatment approach is ACT. Alysha has completed a total of six years of intensive formal training, including a Masters in Clinical Psychology. She has conducted research into emotional health in relationships and body image difficulties. Before opening her own private practice, Alysha worked in a number of public and private health settings, and has experience running group therapy sessions as well as one-on-one therapy. She has been in private practice for 4 years.
